Baltic Goddess Milda
Honoring the Lithuanian Goddess of love and liberty Milda, embodying freedom, love, and the eternal reach toward transcendence.
The story behind
Vaidas carved Milda over eight months. Milda stands at 160 centimeters with the matte finished stone. Her extended hands rise toward the sky, reaching for something greater and higher. They speak of freedom: the freedom to grow, to reach forward, to invite the future.
In Lithuanian folklore, Milda is the goddess of love and liberty, protector, guide, keeper of human aspiration. Vaidas reimagined her not as a distant deity, but as an embodied truth that real love is peace. That reaching always moves humanity forward. That no matter what storm passes, one can remain in grace.
Her facial expression captures profound tranquility, the peace that comes not from absence of struggle, but from continuous surrender to something higher.
The extending hands are her gift to the world: grow. look forward. always reach higher.
Eight months of hand carving and refined power tool work brought her into being. The greatest challenge: capturing the duality, the warrior strength and tender vulnerability that must coexist in a true goddess. The contrast of static posture and calm expression brings out this cooexistence.
Display and placement
For garden: Milda belongs in the landscape. The gray granite darknes with rain, transforming into a different finish. The sculpture can be turned into a fountain, water flowing from her extended hands as a metaphor for generosity and renewal.
For residence: A spacious interior near windows, where natural light can play with her form.
